Brisbane Floods

It seems that flood has gotten worse, it has not been as bad as predicted but still, many people have lost their homes and even worse people have even lost their lives :(...... it is a sad sad day for QLD.......

The floods are expected to move down into NSW also, which is going to devastate even more lives :(

Sy is currently off work until further notice as they have no electricity, but I am still plodding on as my work building should not be affected (however areas around it are)...... I am a bit shocked at how the management are taking it tho as we have been told by the emergency services that we have not to go into the City and stay at home.... however Management at my work are encouraging us to go in?? If we don't then we have to take it as leave........ Most people are stranded and can not even make it in!.... I understand that we need to try keep the business running as normal but the way they have gone about it has been totally out of order.... I will not go into it, but I just wanted to write that I am very disappointed and to be honest I don't know if I want to work for a company like this anymore..........

So I did go into work, but it was very quite, and yes I was very careful as to which roads I took and pre-planned my route before hand........

Anyway have a look at these below, they show the before and after photo's of the Brisbane flood!

http://www.abc.net.au/news/infographics/qld-floods/beforeafter.htm

The first one (which is Milton), is where Sy used to work..... this place was totally under water....... and the stadium :(..... It all seems surreal! I have been to most of these places shown and I could not imagine!...

Brisbane Floods

Floods Floods Floods!

Well we awoke this morning to find that Toowoomba hade been flooded, but not just by a bit of water but by a Tsunami of water flowing down the street! Some people have been killed and still people are missing... this is such a tragic day :(. People are getting together tho and helping out those in need, which is great!

The flood is heading down towards Brisbane City and lots of people have been exacuated. Sy works in the City center and I work in Fortitude Valley and both places are expected to flood in the next couple of days!

Sy's work told people to go home so they could be safe and attend to people in need (also if they or their families could not go home to get on a plane or stay in a hotel at the work expense). What a nice thing to do! However my work said to stay untill 5pm if we can but be careful..... and then went ahead to remind us that if we did go home we had to take either as Holiday or as sick leave...... nice hey......

This flood s to be as bad as the 1974 floods! which is not good at all...... google it!

Ant Bite

Today I mowed the lawn in my flip flops...... yeh yeh I should have been wearing trainers just in case my toes got chopped off..... and yeh we all learn from our mistakes.........

Because of all the rain we have had, when I mowed the grass it brought all the Ants to the surface and they did not like being disturbed....... I had lots of angry bull ants crawling all over my feet and in defense they bit me!

Now this is what happens when I am bit by a couple of Ants.....

This picture was taken the next day and as you can see my feet are still swollen! I looked like someone had placed a pump between my toes and blown them up ha ha ha.

You will be happy to know that the swelling has since gone down and now they just itch like crazy! So lesson of the day DO NOT MOW THE LAWN IN YER FLIP FLOPS!
